OPEN COURT: TETHERED

JAN. 12, 2023 - APR. 15, 2023

Join Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art for an artist residency and exhibition series focused on exploring the intersection of traditional fine art spaces, the metaverse, and black representation.

Tethered: An Exploration of Existential Interconnectedness (2023), is a group photography show exploring the connections and identity between people, places, and objects. As we are all born into a series of systems and cultures; the way that we are introduced, engage, accept, or reject these inputs creates a series of experiences that produce a range of emotions that inherently keep us connected as humans. Tethered invites each photographer to explore, display, and express those connections and emotions through the lens of their experiences or the experiences of others. The viewer is invited to ponder their connections, experiences, and contributions to our web and way of life.

Digital extensions of each work are being created and minted to the blockchain in keeping with Open Court’s mission. OC* is a dynamic residency & exhibition series created to expose black artists to gallery and exhibition space physically and digitally. Through the use of NFTs and blockchain technology, we intend to prepare black artists to thrive in our current physical context and give them low-risk opportunities to participate in the new frontier of democratization and ownership.
