Itinerary of Events

Papermaking demonstration and opening reception
Friday, March 6, 2020 | 5:30 – 7:30p

Join us for an “active” opening reception with internationally exhibited paper artists Jeong and Choon Yun as they demonstrate their papermaking process. The husband and wife artists will showcase their skills for onlookers throughout the evening, while answering questions about their work.

The Yuns, each a highly recognized artist in their South Korea homeland, joined together to produce works that convey unique and powerful artistic expressions. In an inspired amalgam of ancient Asian papermaking techniques knowns as “Han-ji” and modern Western abstraction, the Yuns make their own singular artistic mark. Working with organic materials of their childhood in South Korea holds powerful meaning for the Yuns as artists. By offering this hands-on ancient and natural tradition to the viewer in the form of an abstraction they have found a way to provide a visceral experience of home.

Saturday, March 7, 2020 | 11a – 12:15p

Enjoy coffee and conversation with Jeong and Choon Yun while taking in a short documentary video that outlines the artists’ process. Ask questions about their works on view and get a hands-on feel of the paper they create.
